Padres Deal Marlins 9-8 Loss
The San Diego Padres downed the Miami Marlins, 9-8, at Marlins Park. Bobby Ayala led the way, going 2-for-5 for San Diego. San Diego reliever Klaus Qvist picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Brian Glover shouldered the loss. San Diego leads the National League West Division by 7 games.

Ayala had a game-changing home run in the top of the 12th. On a 1-1 cutter from Brian Glover, he banged a solo home run to left, giving the Padres a 9-8 lead. It was the 7th home run of the year for Ayala.

"I'm trying to keep it simple," said Ayala. "Just do my job."
