Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the Clearwater Threshers and the Potomac Nationals. Clearwater won it, 3-0. Clearwater starter Alberto Cordovi was in command. The Nationals fall to 7-11 and continue their unimpressive start to the 2038 season.

In the top of the eighth, Alex Sandoval stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Nationals were trailing 1-0, but had the bases loaded. That's when Gus Ronquillo made a terrific pitch and Sandoval struck out. Gone was the dream of a Potomac comeback.
