Despite a fine performance by shortstop Yasuhide Kasahara, the Chicago Cubs lost to the Minnesota Twins, 7-6. Kasahara was 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times. Picking up the win was Riley Pooley. He went 6 innings, allowing 4 runs on 9 hits. The right--hander struck out 1 and walked 2. The Twins, with just their 10th win so far in 2044, have yet to catch fire.

Minnesota used the timely hitting of Yonetoshi Muranaka to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Twins on top, 6-4. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Winning is hard sometimes," said Twins manager Patrick Slack. "This one was nice to get."
