Clearwater second baseman Juan Cervantes helped his team beat the Potomac Nationals, 9-1. Cervantes, who leads the NL in hits with 24, went 2 for 4 for the Threshers. Clearwater reliever Jonathan Herman picked up the win, raising his record to 2-0. Dave Hendriks was tagged with the loss. The Nationals fall to 7-9 and continue to sputter in the early going.

With Clearwater leading 5-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Cervantes came up to bat against Potomac pitcher Ruben de Leon. Cervantes hit a curveball to left for a 3-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season put the Threshers on top, 8-0.

Cervantes told a Clearwater Bulletin reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
